What We Believe About…

…God
We believe there is only one living and true God, Who is all-powerful and all-knowing. The eternal God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

…Man
Man is the crowning work of God’s creation, made in His own image. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Thus, his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin.

…the Scriptures
The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.

…Salvation
Salvation is the only means that God has provided man by which he may overcome his sin nature and be glorified, such glorification being necessary before one returns to His presence after this life. It involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

These are some of our core beliefs. A more complete explanation can be read in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000), to which we adhere.

Brief History

Kings Avenue Baptist Church was established in 1973 and incorporated in 1979. By God’s provision, the church enjoyed rapid growth in the early 1980s, which resulted in the expansion of Sunday worship services and the establishment of two particular ministries that continue today: Kings Avenue Christian Preschool and Walk Thru Bethlehem. In 2017, KABC’s Pastor of 35 years, Rev. Charles Richard, retired and was succeeded by the current Pastor, John McRae.
